The Fraser Cascade Literacy Task Initiative

The Fraser Cascade Literacy Task Initiative (FCLTI) was created to provide the opportunity for strategic partnering of the five key sectors; including civic (municipal & band); public (libraries, social & health services); economic (private to social economy); education (pre-school, public, private & post-secondary); and voluntary/community.

Goals

  1. To maintain and strengthen communities' capacity to support literacy development programs.
  2. To enhance literacy for children from birth through to age 18
  3. To enhance literacy development for adults.
  4. To enhance literacy development in Aboriginal communities.

The framework is an "asset-based" model that focuses on the core values of collaboration, universal access, innovation, respect and fun. The framework is founded upon the concepts of life-long learning, sustainable economic development and social inclusion.

Pages Bookstore and Fraser-Cascade Literacy Centre

Pages Bookstore and Fraser-Cascade Literacy Centre is a non-profit organization, operated by The New Page Human Services Society.

We have a wide range of books, including children's literature, science fiction, romance novels, westerns, crafts, cooking, history, and rare collectibles and antique books. These are also available through our Pages Online Book Store.

AbeBooks

All our books are donated. All funds go towards supporting literacy programs and our drop-in centre for people with mental health issues and other life challenges. We have a warm and welcoming place where everyone can come and have a cup of coffee or tea and browse through our bookshelves.

The Fraser Cascade Literacy Centre provides free adult literacy tutoring, including basic computers, reading, writing, and math. It is also the home of our English as a Second Language Settlement Assistance Program. The literacy centre is located at the back of Pages Bookstore. If you are interested in our programs as a learner or tutor contact Susan Williams at 604 869-1973 or e-mail: callhopeprogram@gmail.com

If you are interested in volunteering in the bookstore or donating some gently used books, come by our location at 780 Fraser Avenue or call 604 869-9947. Ask for Naydeen ( hopepagesbookstore@gmail.com )
